šŸ½ WITCH CHALLENGE - Fantastical Food

Merry meet!

Thank you once again to all those who joined in for last week’s Witch Challenge - Mirror Magick :black_mirror: It’s time to step back from the looking glass, and is it just me, or is all this spellwork making you hungry, too? :face_savoring_food:

The theme for this week’s challenge is inspired by preparations for the upcoming ā€œBread Sabbatā€ Lammas and is…

:fork_and_knife_with_plate: :magic_wand: Fantastical Food :witch_cauldron: :green_salad:

From prepping to eating-
How do you stir magick into your meals?

Food may be a necessity, but it’s also one of the joys of life. And you don’t need to call yourself a Kitchen Witch in order to blend magick into your meals (although you certainly can)! :cook:

Whether it’s through drawing on the magickal correspondences of your ingredients, stirring in your intention, blessing the food, expressing gratitude for what you eat, leaving offerings for your deities, or more - we use food magickally in a feast of ways. This challenge encourages you to open up the pantry and your mind. How do you incorporate or acknowledge food in your Craft? :mage: :bowl_with_spoon:

This challenge is about food magick - how you choose to take on this theme is up to you. So are you ready? Because it’s…

Hmmmmm, I don’t consider myself a kitchen witch even though I do make 90% of our dinners from scratch, so somehow this feels a bit out of my normal lane. However, I did have an idea pop into my head,d and I’ll see if I’m able to get it done tomorrow! :bread:

Challenge Entry

I think I was attempting a dumb supper, today. I’d been thinking of my driver’s father. When we were at the storage unit, my driver seemed confused as to where to look for objects she needed. I asked her father to help guide her. She found something she didn’t know she had.

When it came close to suppertime, I murmured to her that it had been a while since we’d been to her father’s favorite steakhouse. I’d been there once before, and had an idea of what I’d like to get ā€œnext time.ā€ I didn’t think the grandson had ever been there.

Along the way, a distracted driver nearly got into several accidents. My driver was so upset at what she could have done to deserve it, she didn’t give her father much thought. The grandson was trying new taste sensations- pork chops and apple sauce?!? He liked it. A taste of Gyros? That was ā€œcrackā€: he really liked that! Tzatziki sauce tasted ā€œmintyā€ to him.

All of a sudden, my attention was pulled to a toast on the Spirit level. ā€œPahpawā€ was there, with us, and he knew I was thinking of him!

The grabbing of my attention confused me, so I didn’t try to pull anyone else into the toast. I wish I would have.

This was nowhere near a dumb supper. However I had intended it to be an honor and a memory. No clue what everyone else thought or felt on the Spirit level- it was more of a confusion mash- up on the physical level.

For @Selena-Paloma, @Greenbriar, @Artemisia, and anyone who feels they can’t or doesn’t want to cook/bake - no fear! This could also be considered an eating challenge, or anything to do with using food in magickal ways.

Feel free to play with use food creatively- such as gratitude rituals, deity offerings, blessings, etc. No cooking or baking required if you don’t feel called to do so!

Good luck (and bon appƩtit)!

@BryWisteria I am up to the Challenge! I am buying a bread baking dish , a pastry board, the herbs, and yeast today! I don’t know how old the herbs I have are…

I am giving it a whirl! I am also going to incorporate tea, since you know I love tea

That’s lovely - it sounds like the foods helped you reconnect across the veil, even with some distractions at the table. It sounds like a nice meal and a moment to honor a dear spirit

That’s awesome - you go! And absolutely, you know I’m a fellow tea-lover, so I’m looking forward to seeing what you choose to do. Happy baking!

Challenge Entry - Fantastical Food

On Thursday, I decided to make sourdough discard challah bread.

I decided it was the perfect thing as I could weave my intentions in to the bread as I made it!

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, given there’s no baker’s yeast in it, just my active sourdough discard. I think next time I’ll let it rise overnight. I’ve seen some recipes call for 8 stands. I might give that a try

I braid my own hair every day, often a couple times a day, and it’s always a meditative process. I used that mindset and braided my intentions in while weaving the bread strands.

WITCH CHALLENGE - Fantastical Foods

I am not a cook but I love to make great food for camping. There is something about eating outdoors that is Magick. Food tastes so good!

Then… I started obsessing on how to make simple meals even at home with bare bones equipment. This also corresponded with my Prepper phase.

Some of the following foods were made with a homemade alcohol burner and, for the baked items, two stainless dog bowls - one on top - to simulate an oven. Some were made at home. Some were partially made at home and then packed into a campsite.

I have to cut this short - I have lots and lots of photos but I hope you get the idea with some of the pics here.

The alcohol burner (one of several designs)

The dog bowl oven (wood on top is to retain heat and make it picker uppable ā„¢. Stove is inside tin can base.

Breakfast on the lake. One pan meal - stove only

Bulgogi - stove only

Apple Dump Cake - oven

Cheesy Ramen, poached egg, steak strips (steak prepared in advance)

Cinnamon Rolls made with biscuit mix (really good with morning coffee)

Prepper meal. Penne, freeze dried beef, powdered cheese, Sriracha

Salchipapas - Mexican street food. Sausage, fries, coleslaw and condiments. Made at home.

Shrimp Fried Rice (Northern Thai style). Could be made at camp but this one wasn’t.

TexJoy baisted chicken. Awesome taste. Too big for camp so… home done.

Udon noodles - started with a package but I got silly

Challenge Entry

I have no pictures, sorry, but here’s my entry.

Last week my granddaughter stepped in the middle of a fairy circle after I told her not to and then stepped on one of the mushrooms. The Fae appeared to be quite upset with this as things were kind of chaotic and going wrong all week. Sunday I put a small bowl of honey and a slice of bread in our fairy garden. I also apologized to them for my granddaughters defiant behavior. That seems to have calmed the fae down considerably.

Oh, perfect timing! I know, I’m late to the challenge itself, but we went berry picking over the weekend and I have so many blueberries! :blueberries: I’ll be making my blueberry spread today, so I’ll share that with you all when I’m done, as well as some basic information about blueberries and their correspondences!
