What is a Full Moon?
If you need a recap of a Full Moon, click here! 🌕
A full moon happens when the moon is directly opposite the sun from the Earth. This means that the side of the moon facing Earth is fully illuminated by the sun, making it appear as a complete circle of light in the night sky.
As with anything in witchcraft, there are many different beliefs on what type of magick should be done during a Full Moon. Some witches believe banishing should be done. Others believe intentions should be set for manifestations. Still, others (such as myself) believe that the Full Moon is the best time for literally any spell you want because the energy is at its highest.
During the Full Moon, the Triple Goddess becomes the Mother of all beings. It’s a great time to work on intuition, spells of love, and prosperity. The Power of all Magic is truly at its peak, this lunar phase is key to either accept or reject projects, transformations, and manifestations that we initiated during the New Moon. - Spells and Things To Do on a Full Moon | Spells8
The Full Corn Moon
The Full Moon of September is often known as the Harvest Moon. However, this year, that privilege is reserved for October’s Full Moon – it is the closest Full Moon to the Equinox. Since the title of Harvest Moon is taken this year, September’s Full Moon is known as the Corn Moon. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the time of year where we are harvesting our crops and beginning the slow descent into the Autumn season. The crops are either ready to harvest or slowly beginning to wither, both literally and figuratively. The air begins to chill with the crispness of the anticipated Winter.
Some other names for this Full Moon include the Barley Moon and the Grain Moon. It is a representation of the grains that are ready to harvest around this time of year. Grains are tied to abundance and prosperity, so you might consider working with those themes during this Full Moon!
The Full Worm Moon
In the Southern Hemisphere, this Full Moon may be known as the Full Worm Moon. This name was given to one of the moons of Spring, as it is closely tied to the thawing ground and emergence of worms. However, this may be different for you in the Southern Hemisphere!
Some alternative names for the Full Worm Moon include the Full Storm Moon and the Full Sugar Moon. These may not resonate with where you live, so feel free to choose a Full Moon name that makes sense for your region. It is perfectly valid to craft Full Moon names that better fit your region and practice.
Full Moon Lunar Eclipse – A Blood Moon
This month, we are also graced with a Lunar Eclipse! Some witches believe an eclipse can affect the energy of the Full Moon and prefer not to cast spells or work magick. Other witches do not feel any change in energy with the eclipse.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon aligns precisely with the Earth and Sun, casting its shadow upon our planet. As this phenomenon unfolds, viewers of the eclipse first witness the penumbral eclipse. This happens when the outer portion of the moon’s shadow begins to cast a faint glow upon affected areas of the Earth.

The Sign of Pisces
Pisces is a mutable water sign ruled by the planet Neptune. If you were born between February 19th and March 20th, you will have Pisces as your Sun Sign! Pisceans are one of the more intuitive signs in the zodiac due to their fluidity and connection with the Water element. They tend to enjoy being around people but they are emotional vacuums! They tend to suck up the emotions of the people around them, making the Pisces likely very attuned to the people around them.
Pisceans also love to help others, leaning into their creativity to find solutions to problems. They may often find themselves daydreaming, visualizing everything they want to do, and seeing the outcomes with perfect clarity. This might give Pisceans an advantage over others in terms of manifesting and reaching their goals. However, Pisceans can often get stuck in their heads, choosing to live in their daydreams rather than reality.

Make Eclipse Water
Yup, you read that right! Just like Full Moon Water, you can harness the energy of the Lunar Eclipse for future magickal workings. Used for watering plants, harnessing special energy, spiritual baths, and much more, eclipse water can be a great addition to your magickal toolbox.
Remember that working magick during an eclipse is a highly personal choice. There is no known energetic precedent for choosing to or not to cast during an eclipse. It may be highly potent energy for you, and that could be a great time to do some magick!

Remember, the energy of the Full Moon isn’t just for the one day that it reaches its peak. Personally, I give myself a three-day window for the Full Moon: the day before, the day of, and the day after. This works well for my practice and it may work for yours, too!
