šŸŽ² Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE - Divining Differently

Merry meet!

Thank you once again to all those who joined in for last weekā€™s Weekly Witchy Challenge - Multilingual Magick :speaking_head:

After last weekā€™s linguistic challenge itā€™s time to give our mouths a break- letā€™s open up that Third Eye instead! :eye:

This weekā€™s challenge was suggested by the wonderful @Anjelique and isā€¦

Unconventional Different Unusual Divination Spells8 Challenge

:game_die: :candle: Divining Differently - Unconventional Forms of Divination :cloud: :face_with_monocle:

Peer past convention- the best way to see the unknown is by exploring the unknown itself!

Calling all diviners, fortune tellers, soothsayers, and those who wish to see beyond- this challenge is for you!

In the same series as Foretelling the Future and A Touch of Tarot, this challenge is all about divination- but what weā€™re looking at here is pushing your divination skills to new and previously unknown reaches :raised_hands:

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

This weekā€™s theme challenges you to explore a different form of divination - but as always, how you do so is up to you!

Please note that while this theme encourages you to pursue unconventional methods of divination, what is ā€œconventionalā€ or standard in a practice is entirely up to the individual. While many would think of tarot or crystal balls as a tried-and-true form of divination, to someone who has never used tarot before, experimenting with the cards for the first time would definitely count as breaking into new territory :railway_track:

So are you ready? Because itā€™sā€¦

CHALLENGE TIME!

Strange! I was thinking about trying a different form of divination a few days ago! This one would involve darkness. With your eyes closed or with your eyes open in the darkness, you can see shapes. I could try to interpret those shapes with Veaugā€™s help, of course.
Maybe Iā€™ll call it Vulommancy or Vulmancy. Vulom is the word for darkness and Vul is the word for dark in Dovahzul.

Thatā€™s so interestingā€¦ @BryWisteria
And I love learning new things!

Love Wednesdays!!! Itā€™s new challenge day!

Oh, Iā€™d love to try my hand at a different method of divination. Dice sounds interesting and I did finish my set of Ogham staves from the last challenge that I could try out.

@BryWisteria Would scrying count for this challenge? Itā€™s something that Iā€™ve never tried but have wondered about.

Decisions, decisionsā€¦

Ooh, so much fun!! Iā€™ve recently started to build a charm set but have yet to try to do a reading with it so this is perfect!

I am interested in learning Tarot, so I think I will start the Tarot course.

@Artemisia very nice staves! Iā€™m learning about Ogham but havenā€™t graduated to making or using staves, if thatā€™s the route you choose, I would love to hear about it. Also, yes scrying would count for the challengeā€¦ so yesā€¦ decisions, decisions

I have my own decisionsā€¦ I really want to use my new pendulum which is copper & quartz I havenā€™t done much with pendulums so I really donā€™t know what I would want to ask or use it for right now. I had thought of chakras but Iā€™m not sure about that since I was rearranging & looking through things  I also want to try Lithomancyā€¦ casting stones (crystals) I have a layout for that too & a guide on how to read the stones that are castā€¦ of course I could make Ogham staves if I can find some acceptable wood from around hereā€¦ between the trees we have, craft store, & brushā€¦ Iā€™ll find something. maybe take apart clothes pins!

Ahā€¦ decisions, decisionsā€¦ :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I have runes but I havenā€™t used them in a donkā€™s age and I never got the handle of reading the things. Think Iā€™ll do that. Sounds like itā€™s going to be a fun challenge!

CONFESSION: I did not know you could use Divination with regular playing cards & Iā€™m SO excited to try this!!! I also cannot wait to go through the tarot course. I have not gotten to tarot yet. Iā€™m still learning anything and everything. However, my boyfriend actually went with me last week into a crystal shop and bought me things I NEEDED and was OUT OF! 1) thatā€™s a long way for him because he kept telling me he didnā€™t want ā€œwitchy stuff in our houseā€ for the longest time. But since heā€™s seen what Iā€™ve done, heā€™s respecting my moon water in the fridge and offered to take me and buy me supplies last week that I was out of (candles, incense, etc.) SO ā€¦ POINT BEING - LOL, I told him I wanted tarot cards but not this time because Iā€™m not ready. My birthday is NEXT week, and I think I know what Iā€™m asking him for!

Canā€™t wait this challenge. I hope everyone has a great time with their work this week and Blessed Be Everyone!!!

Super excited! I have a rune set and a pendulum but never used them so I guess it is a good opportunity to do so. Also I would like to try scrying :crystal_ball:

Im thinking of using my cryatals in divination like runes but without the runes anf using the xorrespondances of crystals to where they land to see what message is.

Another idea is using ny scentsy scent samples to do a divination and look up correspondance for the ingredients or frangrances ysed in tge scents and tgen maybe use scent and correspondance to do a meditation on it.

I could do a crystal meditation after crystals divination toošŸ˜ā€¦ just a few thoughts what could do.

@Phoenix_Fire divination with crystals is called Lithomancy & you can find casting associations & types of casting with the crystals too. Iā€™ll see if I can find some information on it for you.

I have never tried divination with smells! What a great way to explore!

I have never really done scrying of any kind, so thereā€™s something I could look into also.

@Kasandra Darkness divination sounds amazing! :star_struck: And I think youā€™ve got two options for the perfect name for the method too- Vulom and Vul are pretty similar which is neat. I wonder if Dovahzul is tied or influenced by Latin at all? Either way, very cool method!

@Marsha Hooray for experimenting and learning new things! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Whatever you choose, I hope you have fun and enjoy the process, Marsha!

@Artemisia I love the lead in from the last challenge into this one- it feels like a continuation of what you put into motion last time, which is really neat! And yes! As long as it is something that is new to you, scrying absolutely counts for the challenge. Feel free to pursue your interests and have fun with your divination! Good luck! :sparkles:

@Amaris_Bane Ohhhh your charm set sounds fascinating! Good luck and have with your readings! :grinning:

@JoeyP Hooray! Tarot is a really wonderful form of divination- wishing you all the best as you jump in. Have fun, and let us know how it goes for you, Joey! :flower_playing_cards: :sparkles:

@Susurrus Hahaha so many fun choices! Whatever method(s) you choose to explore this week, I hope you have fun with them. Good luck! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@AileyGrey Wooohooo! Welcome back to the challenges, Ailey- I hope you have fun with this one! Good luck!

@Amethyst Ohhhh exciting rune work! :star_struck: May it all go well and turn into a fun process for you, Amethyst- I hope you enjoy it! :raido: :two_hearts:

@Janae_Rochele That is so wonderful that your boyfriend is supporting you, and hooray for new crystals! :gem: A tarot deck is a wonderful birthday gift- I hope you get a deck that excites you! And happy birthday in advance- may it be a very blessed week to your special day! :birthday::two_hearts:

@stavroula This is your sign to pursue those interests- runes, pendulums, and scrying are all wonderful methods of divination! Whatever method(s) you choose to explore this week, Iā€™m wishing you all the best- have fun with them! :crystal_ball:

@Phoenix_Fire Crystal divination, scent work, and meditations are all very exciting ideas- youā€™ve got some fun things to pursue this week! Hope you enjoy and that it all goes well for you- good luck! :raised_hands:

What a fun idea! I love how these practices encourage me to learn something new. I have not tried my pendulums yet so that maybe my goal this week.

Itā€™s a legitimate measurement! Itā€™s just longer than a month of Sundays! LOL!

I know of several posts on runes done by a fabulous person Iā€™m going to use! Thanks, love!

I made my own runes years ago with a simple sharpie and blank wooden disks from the craft store. They arenā€™t very fancy but they feel good, you know? Maybe this is the kick in the rear I need to work with them more. Thank you!

Personally, the realization that pagan rituals and customs are incorporated into almost everything we modern folk do is a daily occurrence. From the days of the week, to holidays, etc., these traditions have survived and will continue.
The wisdom of Ornithomancy, as birds react to alterations in Earthā€™s electromagnetic field, is simply brilliant. As is Cromniomancy. When humans were so completely dependent upon changes in soil and weather for their crops, stability of homes, etc., this simply makes good common sense.
For me as a sole practitioner (Iā€™m still getting used to that term lol), I rely mostly on prayers/chants, home/hearth, and other traditional forms of practice. Using these suggestions to increase my devotional practice also makes simple good common sense. I have always been awed by scrying and mirror magick, so maybe thatā€™s my cue to carefully delve into those avenues.
Thank you again for another great Witchy Challenge!

Reading the tea leaves, recommended by @BryWisteria , so I did it for the first time some months ago. The imagines I saw played out in my life, Iā€™d say it was a success.

Havenā€™t done it since, but Iā€™d like to do it some more, Tasseography. Just need to get my hands on some loose tea leaves (herbal). Unfortunately, Wholefoods and the natural markets around me donā€™t carry loose tea leaves except for Green Tea, but Iā€™m keeping away from caffeine. Going to have to order it online, but it just keeps slipping from my mind, been holding me back.

For this challenge, going to order some loose tea leaves by Tuesday!

Edit: the challenge is to try a new method I havenā€™t done before, got it! Since I have done Tasseography once, it does still feel new, I will attempt another divination method that I havenā€™t done. Thereā€™s some interesting ones listed. The Sunlight on the finger nail, that one sounds cool.

Iā€™m still going to order those tea leaves by Tuesday.
