How many challenges can I do this week?

If you are feeling particularly adventurous this week and want to do more than just the usual one challenge, you can do:

Up to THREE CHALLENGES

This limit exists to encourage mindfulness on each challenge- please remember that, although some challenges have similar themes, every challenge requires its own unique entry in order to receive the corresponding badge :medal_sports:

But I want to earn all the badges!

That is awesome- I am so happy that you enjoy the badges so much!

At the end of the day, badges are just a small token- the challenges are really here to help you improve and enhance your magickal practice. So please try to take your time with your exploration of the theme(s) you choose- they are here for you! :sparkles:

On an administrative note, the limit also exists to save your challenge moderator from a potential ocean of badge-giving (:bowing_woman:) for all the various challenges at once.

But for challenge enthusiasts and badge collectors- no fear! You can rest assured that another chance to join in on any additional missed challenges will come again soon. Expect another Catch-Up Challenge and chance to earn old badges every ten challenges :+1:

Not sure which challenges you already participated in? :ballot_box_with_check:

Click here to see how you can check your current badges

If you can’t remember if you completed a challenge, no worries! You can go to the challenge page and check the entries to see if you submitted.

Additionally, you can go to your Badges page to see a collection of all the titles you previously earned.

Here is how to check your badges:

  1. Click on your avatar/picture icon at the top right-hand side of any page in the forum.
  2. Click on the person icon and select “Summary”.
  3. Next, click on “Badges”

Here you can see all the badges you have earned during your time exploring the forums!

STEP 2: Share Your Entry(ies) to the Challenge :writing_hand:

Click here for notes about challenge inclusivity

Everyone is welcome to join the challenge by practicing magick in line with the current theme. For lurkers and those who don’t feel comfortable sharing, it is absolutely okay to follow along with the challenge but keep your entry personal. Feel free to join in spirit and do what feels most comfortable for you!

That being said, please know that if you would like to receive a prize and a public shout-out, it is required that you share your experience.

Getting Your Credit :white_check_mark:

:exclamation: IMPORTANT : Please don’t forget to include the name of the chosen challenge and/or the badge you want somewhere in your post as well!

If you do not include a challenge or badge name with your entry, I will have to use my best guess and you may not get the title you were hoping for- so please be sure to mention it!

After you have chosen an old challenge (or two, or three!), completed your task, and are ready to share- all you have to do is write/share about your experience and label it as your challenge entry. There is a lot of chatting here (which is awesome- chatting and discussion are very welcome!) so please please PLEASE clearly write that it is your entry so that I know to count it!

Where Should I Share My Entry?

Click here for instructions on where to share your entry

You are welcome to post it right here- just click “reply” :repeat: to this post and write your experience in the text box that pops up!

Alternatively, you could create a new thread in the forum (doing so keeps your entry separate and is a good option if you have a lot to share)

Note : If you do choose to create a new thread, please add the “challenge-entry” tag and/or add a hyperlink back to this post so that it can be easily found- thank you! :bowing_woman:

Deadline :spiral_calendar:

:exclamation: This challenge will close in 6 DAYS :exclamation:

To join in, please share your experience by:

Tuesday, February 7 at 7:00 AM CET (Central European Time)
( Time Converter: 2023-02-07T06:00:00Z)

(Note that the time zone is CET- if you don’t see your time displayed above, you can use this time zone calculator to check for your time zone!)

Prizes :gift:

For their efforts, all participants will receive a special shout-out and a small prize! :gift:

Acknowledgments will be given in a Props and Presents Post that will appear in the forums on Tuesday.

After the challenge closes, you are still very welcome to post but please be aware that no additional prizes will be given. This discussion will remain open for about a week after the challenge finishes.

:gift_heart: :gift: :gift_heart:

A warm reminder that the challenges are designed to be very open- everyone is encouraged to participate in a way that honors and reflects their unique practice :open_book:

If you have any doubts about if something is acceptable to post or say, please double-check with the Forum FAQ and/or reach out to your friendly Moderator Team .

And for those new to challenges- welcome! Know that the goal of these activities is to help you further diversify and strengthen your abilities and to bring together the Spells8 forum family to inspire and support one another in creative ways :hugs:

The clock has stopped so the door of missed opportunities can open once again- spread your wings and don’t be afraid to delve into a previously unexplored of magick!

130 Weekly Witchy challenge - catch up
#1 entry
[005] Dream Magic – Oneiric Witch
CHALLENGE ENTRY – GARNET
As Francisco was kind enough to remind us in April 2019,
There are many kinds of dreams, all of which we can incorporate
in our magickal workings.

  1. Unconscious dreams, or sleeping dreams, are disjointed and at times
chaotic. It has been suggested keeping a notebook on your
bed stand can ease your ability to remember what you dreamed.
  2. Lucid Dreams, this is the category I fall under. These dreams are so real that you can’t always tell what is real and what was a dream.
They may make sense or be confusing.
  3. Day Dreams – I’ve always daydreamed. If I was totally bored
during a lecture, or my mind wandered, I could easily go
    “somewhere else” and adventure there.
  4. Nightmares. There are nightmares and there are
Night terrors, where you wake up out of breath, covered with sweat…
My Dad had them too, but he always thought it was a holdover
from WW2. (He called it “shell shock”, now it’s called “PTSD”)
Francisca also suggested a Pillow sachet to help her sleep.
    Pillow sachet
    Uncooked rice (2 tbsp)
    •3 Lavender flowers
    •Rose petals (1 handful)
•9 drops of vanilla or lavender oil.
You can add crystals to your dream pillow such as moonstones,
pearl, aquamarine, white quartz, labradorite, blue calcite, opal,
selenite, or research their healing properties and choose the one that
    fits your personal needs.

It was lovely and the smell was so soothing. Unfortunately, my cats
thought so too. They’d steal it out from under my pillow and it
became better than catnip.

Maybe I’ll make another and put it in my pillowcase so unless they
roll me out of the bed and steal the whole pillow, I might be able to
make use of it.
Blessed Be

130 WWC Catchup
#2 entry
[007] WWC - Dealing with the Divine
CHALLENGE ENTRY - GARNET
This challenge is all about deities, spirits, and connecting with
outside forces to strengthen and focus your magick.
In this investigation into deities, I’ve worshipped ‘Goddess’ for many
years and happily so.
But of late Bast and Isis have come to mind more and more.
Bast, AKA as “Bastet” The name Bast means ‘(female) devourer’.
She was the most popular of the ancient Egyptian Goddesses.
She was often called the cat goddess.
She was one of Ra’s daughters and his defender.

The myth is that he would send her to fight his archenemy Apep.
She also served as the protector of Pharaoh. After Sekhet, the
lioness, and of the Chief God Ra.

Isis, also known as Aset, is a goddess in Egyptian mythology.
Her name has been profaned by a criminal terrorist group taking the name isis, therefore, it becomes inappropriate to call Her Isis, so I shall address her as Aset. She was part of the Ennead of Heliopolis, a family of nine
deities descended from the creator god, Atum or Ra. She and her siblings—Osiris, Set, and Nephthys —are the last generation of the Ennead.

-Ancient Egyptian temples, in Athens, Rome, Paris, and London, all hosted an Aset cult. She was associated with the throne and protecting the Pharaoh’s
kingship.
-She was a 'Great of Magic” and associated with resurrection.
The Pyramid texts repeatedly mentioned her. (These texts evolved into
the Book of the Dead)
She was said to have ten thousand names. Among them were :
Mistress of heaven. Divine mother.
Queen of all Gods, Goddesses, and women.
The bestower of life. The Lady of bread.
The Lady of beer. The Lady of abundance.
The Lady of joy. The Lady of love.
Beautiful, mighty, and beloved One.
She was worshipped in many mid-eastern, African, and European
nations.

Blessed be

CHALLENGE ENTRY - GARNET #3
[008] Weekly Witchy Challenge – Moon Magick
CHALLENGE ENTRY - GARNET
I’ve always had an affinity for the moon. As it calls the tides as it
also calls to me. I greet her every morning before sunrise and enjoy
every moment. From her full bright smile and when she
shrinks from sight only to grow again to her glorious fullness.

I can fully understand why our ancient ancestors held her in awe,
for she gave us light, in the night, at her brightest. At others, she
drifted into the shadows, as we hid in our deep dark caves.

She lights the way on the darkest nights
Whether a silver or a giant white globe
She’s always there, doing what she does.
When you look at the night sky, thank her.
For the life, we live on Earth.

How different would earth be without her?
Well, it would be much darker.
A day could be 6-12 hours, instead of 24.
A year might be over a thousand days. Rather than 365.
Why? The Earth’s rotation would slow down because of the pull of
the moon, or lack thereof.

The oceans would change, becoming 1/3 the depth they are now.
The tilting of the earth would vary.
And the weather could become erratic.
Shall we keep the Moon just as she is? I think, yes.

If I sounded fanciful, I do that sometimes.
Blessed be
Garnet
Gosh I Hope this was done right, If not I’m sorry

Wow, my little travel Witch. Thanks for letting me give 3 challenges.
That means I only have 700,420 more to be up to date!
Just kidding, but sometimes it feels like I’ll never catch up.

challenge entry technological and modern magic

Although I would rather read a book and write in a journal, I do have an online BOS that I have started. I input things there to be more searchable.

I search up spell ideas and ingredient meanings on my computer

I have a tarot app for when I don’t have my cards and I want to ‘pull’ a card

I listen to meditation music and guided meditations online (as recently as yesterday).

I am SLOWLY working through the online courses on Spells8.

I also have books on my kobo as I can get books cheaper there or free from my library.

I have also used the Spells8 virtual altar!

Also saw the computer blessing listed in the challenge. Love the reference to Murphy. I read it with the intention of it blessing my compter. :slightly_smiling_face:

So I do use tech far more than I realize.

Cheers,

You’re not kidding! I felt the same when I opened up my challenge document- where did the last 10 weeks go!?! :joy:

May it be a fun adventure for you, Brandy- happy exploring!

How exciting! :grinning: You’ve got some fun ones picked out for this week too- good luck and have fun, Kasandra!

I always love your upbeat and bright energy, Solasta- it’s contagious in the best way! Good luck and I hope you have fun with whatever challenges you choose to jump into this week :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The pleasure is all mine, Garnet- your challenge entries are always a gift! :gift_heart:

And hahaha you made me laugh about the 700,420 challenges to go- when writing up this catch-up I was adding in the past challenges and was scrolling and scrolling and scrolling down the list- it made me think: wowza, did we really have this many challenges!?! :joy:

So many types of dreams out there! It does help to have categories for each of them. And what a lovely pillow sachet recipe too- I keep a lavender sachet next to my pillow each night and I swear it helps me sleep. I might have to try the next one with rose and vanilla too- I bet it does smell amazing (especially if your kitty thinks so as well! :smiley_cat:)

I know you’ve shared about your work with the Goddess before, this is so exciting to hear about your new research into Bast and Isis too! Thank you for sharing your wisdom about these deities, and I wish you all the best if you choose to work with either/both of Them :heart:

It’s scary to think about what might be if the moon went away- I know all of us witches would be devasted, at the very least! The night sky feels so dark and barren when She isn’t up there, smiling down on us :full_moon_with_face:

And hey- nothing wrong with sounding fanciful, the moon is all about romance, poetry, and being enchanted! :full_moon: :sparkles::rose: There’s something about Her that brings out the romantic in all of us, I think  Your poetry is beautiful as always- it’s such a pleasure to read! Thank you so much for sharing it!

Woohoo- you’ve got this, Amethyst! I hope you have fun with your entries this week :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

So many wonderful ways that you’ve woven technology into your Craft, Phoenix- it sounds like you have found a happy balance for technology in your practice  It really can help a witch on their magickal journey in fun ways! :sparkles:

Great work and thank you for sharing about your techno magick!

Well, seems that I have all the badges at least once! I thought I had missed more, but every time I check… I have the badge either from the original challenge or a catch-up! I’m going to start at September again & run through them to be sure before I decide if there are any that I would like to tackle again

Does anyone have any advice on the dragon magick challenge. I went and looked at the past challenge and just don’t know where to start. I get very drawn to this one and the element of fire challenge, but just need a little guidance. Thank you to all!

@brandy20 Dragons are really very interesting so you could look up a Fire Dragon or maybe do a meditation :woman_in_lotus_position: for working with dragons, meeting a Dragon Deity, Dragon Guide or Dragons of fire :fire: or even Water Dragons :dragon: I’m trying to find my challenge entry for the dragons  but if you are drawn to a specific type of practice you could look up the history of dragons for that practice or another area of interest. So for me, it may be in Celtic :triskele: Paganism or Celtic :triquetra: History or look up Draconic Magic & learn a bit about that… or basically, the history of dragons, their meanings, what they did or protected.

Most of the time dragons are thought of to be connected to fire :fire: but I am usually drawn to more of the water :ocean: type of dragons… but that’s just me

I’m trying to find my entry for the Dragon Challenge  if I can find it, I will see how I approached it & share it with you.

Thank you so much! I never even knew that dragons could be apart of the craft so I’m very interested now!

@brandy20 I found my challenge entry! I had done it as its own thread so that’s why I was having trouble

@Kasandra works with dragons I believe she is a Draconic Practitioner & even learned some of the languages. So she may be able to assist you a little more in that aspect of the practice as well!

There are a lot of possibilities for approaching the dragon magick challenge. If this is your first time working dragon magick, I recommend a mediation to find a dragon guardian. Dragon gods and goddesses are powerful and their energy levels can knock your socks off, so to speak. :upside_down_face: Dragon guardians, in my experience, will help you become accustomed to the energy of dragons, should you choose to continue working with them. If you have crystals such as amethyst, green aventurine, amber, or moss agate, you can hold them in your hand during your mediation. I would personally choose amethyst, since that crystal can help you focus and feel the energy of dragons. After you have found a crystal, light a purple candle, sit in silence, and reach out with your mind to call a dragon guardian to you. Dragons will “appear” behind you, if they choose to reveal themselves to you. My dragon guardian, for some reason, loves to perch on my right shoulder, covering the right side of my body. His presence has a heavy, but comfortable weight to him. Dragons also love to communicate through symbols, so be on the lookout for them. The dragons I have worked with have sent me symbols, but it’s taken me months to learn that they were symbols and what they meant. :grimacing:

Does meditating with the dragon meditation video help? I’m very excited to do this!!
