🔪 Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE- Creative Crafting

Welcome to all!

Another round of applause for the fiery souls who joined in on last week’s Weekly Witchy Challenge- Of Candles and Flame :candle:

After illuminating the world with candle magick, it is time to use that light to craft some wonderful and magickal things- made with love!

The theme for this week’s challenge is…

:thread: :hocho: Magickal Crafting :memo::sparkles:

From grandma’s knitted scarves to mom’s home cooking- there is something uniquely special about things made from the heart. Nothing bought at the store ready-to-go can ever compare to something meticulously made just for you with love

Making something with your hands is similar to working magic- you have to:

  • gather ingredients
  • focus your intent
  • and bring something into existence that wasn’t there before.

This challenge is about looking at what you can do and using your skills to make something magickal!

Are you ready? It’s… CHALLENGE TIME! :trophy:

STEP 1 : Creative Crafting :raised_hands:

Everyone has different talents, hobbies, and abilities- this challenge encourages you to put your talents to work to manifest something for your practice.

Do you feel like you don’t have any talents? Or perhaps you are good at things that seem unrelated to magick?

No worries! :raised_hands:

This challenge is your opportunity to take a long, hard look at the things you can do (or perhaps the things you want to learn how to do!) and apply them in new or creative ways.

Not sure where to begin? Here are some ideas to help get you started:

:dove: Deity-specific Crafts

Some deities have special symbols or items that are commonly offered or displayed in Their name. You might consider making something like Brigids Cross- a beautiful and symbolic craft in honor of the Celtic Goddess Brigid.

Don’t have a deity in mind? How about taking a look at deities that deal with crafting and the arts.

:dizzy: Wonderful Wands

A wand is one of the favorite tools of the witches’ trade! If you don’t have one- why not try making your own?

:broom: Beautiful Besoms and Brooms

Besoms/brooms are a great tool for witches and can used in various rituals.

Take a look at How to Use Besoms/Broomsticks and Besoms? Did you make yours? for some sweeping inspiration :broom:

:handbag: Powerful Pouches

Big magick can come in small sizes! Pouches have a variety of uses and are a great way to bring your magick with you when you leave home.

[This heartwarming dream sachet was shared by @Janelle in Made a dream sachet for my daughter]

Take a look at making a Prosperity Pouch, a Dream Sachet, or Protection Pouch. Or consider designing a spell pouch for a different purpose!

:funeral_urn: Jars of Goodness

Jar spells are highly adaptable to fit any kind of magic you wish to make. They are easy and cheap to put together- and the end result is both beautiful and inspirational!

[@SilverBear’s stunning jar spell shared in Intentions Jar Spell]

There are many possible jar spells you can try- how about a Protection Jar Spell, Jar Spell for Good Luck, or an Intentions Jar Spell to get started?

:art: Art as Magick

Art can be considered a magickal practice in and of itself. Even just the actions of a pen or brush on paper are meditative, reflective, and inspiring. Some witches may even consider themselves to be Art Witches! :art:

There are many ways to use art for magick. You might consider painting, drawing, writing about, or writing to a deity of your choice. Or focus on expressing your experience with magick in general.

[Gorgeous painting shared by @Haley in My etsy shop is finally open]

For those without paint, know that words have a magick of their very own- consider creating something! For written inspiration, check out @Kasie’s phenomenal Tarot Poems :flower_playing_cards:

NOTE: If you’re still not quite ready to get started, consider Expanding Your Creativity or doing a Motivation and Creativity Spell to help get you going :sparkles: You can do this- believe in yourself!

STEP 2 : Share Your Experience :writing_hand:

No matter how you choose to tackle this challenge, you must share your experience!

Please write about what you made and your crafting experience

For your entry to be counted, please write about your experience in the comments below and/or create a new post in the forums. If you create a new post, please tag the challenge by adding a hyperlink back to this post - thank you!

After the challenge closes, you are still very welcome to post but please be aware that no additional prizes will be given.

:gift_heart:

A warm reminder that all challenges are designed to be very open- everyone is encouraged to participate in a way that reflects their unique practice :open_book:

If you have any doubts about if something is acceptable to post or say, please double-check with the Forum FAQ and/or reach out to a moderator.

For those new to challenges, know that these activities are designed to help you further diversify and strengthen your abilities and to bring together the Spells8 forum family to inspire and support one another in creative ways :handshake:

May your crafts created from your heart draw the blessings of deities, the appreciation of others, and the knowledge that you have manifested something with a value no amount of money can match!

Happy crafting and Blessed be! :dizzy:

As I was going through the forums looking for crafts I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of talent I saw! :star_struck:

The pictures and mentions above are just a teeny tiny sampling of the crafts in the forums- there are easily hundreds of pictures and entries people have so kindly shared.

The above post became long very quickly, but there are so many great things that I can’t help but share just few more:

Finally, I had to stop searching because there are just that many gorgeous things people have made- so if you shared a craft but it wasn’t mentioned here, a special shout-out and round of applause to you too!

A note that the definition of what a “craft” is is very loose here- anything handmade will count towards this challenge!

It was so much fun going back through the forums and rediscovering everyone’s hard work- I can’t wait to see what you all come up with for this challenge!

CRAFTING! Is so much fun! This past weekend I just made something for my son. This works out great.

Would writing count? Because when it comes to crafting I have my Dad’s talent, not my Mom’s. I once tried to learn sewing and not only broke the needle off, it broke off while going through my finger. My friends who were also in shop had to go get a pair of pliers to get it out of my hand. LOL.

Oh, I’m excited about this challenge! I haven’t crocheted in a while because of time constraints, but I definitely need to pull my yarn out and make something

Oh. My. Gosh. Now my fingers are throbbing!

Oh my goodness… I love to create… I was an art major so I guess I always see potential in things I find. Anyway… these are some examples of what I busy myself making.
I have access to a wild grape vine …

I have Lavender growing in my garden so I made these

I love making wreaths so I made one for each Sabbat and Esbat - here is a sample

And I made matching little 4" square shadow box scenes for each as well

I am also working on a dress… Sometimes a girl just has to feel pretty… even if just for herself… I found some silk saree fabric and am kind of making it up as I go.
And … a rattle…

I’m unemployed, so I created a job search spell jar

It has pink Himalayan sea salt, rosemary, green aventurine, chamomile, lemon balm, and sealing with an orange candle. I purified everything before adding. I added a tag naming it and added a charm, that were also purified.

I also created a dream spell jar using similar ingredients.

These are beautiful!!Berta, you are very talented! Love the brigid’s cross… been wanting to make one, but I get a bit lost and loose patience lol. Eventually, i will succeed at it…

You can make one @walter ! The trick is finding reeds that are long and smooth. The stems on my lavender worked well while they were green. There are a couple good videos on how to make them, but I couldn’t get them to load… But here is a web page with pretty good instruction… According to them pipe cleaners are good to work with.

The amusing thing was, the Home EC teacher fainted and took up everybody’s attention. Hence two of my buddies getting pliers and pulling it out for me. LOL.

Wow. Those are all awesome @berta! You’ve got some talent!

Both your jars look great @brenda10! And have very pretty charms on them.
