New to the idea of taglocks and tokens? A great place to begin is by exploring the concepts. Feel free to explore and share what you learned as your challenge entry this week!

As a brief introduction:

Taglocks are used to tie a specific person into a spell or other magickal working.

Examples of taglocks include: Names, blood, locks of hair, fingernails, etc.

Tokens are used to represent something (usually non-human) in a spell or magickal working. They are often chosen based on an item’s magickal correspondences.

Examples of tokens and what they might represent include: a deity symbol (your deity), good luck sigil (good luck), feathers (Air element), rain water (rain), basil (good luck), a gingko leaf (wealth), etc.

Both taglocks (symbolizing a person) and tokens (symbolizing a magickal influence) are used to represent something/someone, bringing it into your spellwork and helping to direct the spell.

Make a token or taglock :nesting_dolls:

Taglocks can be anything symbolic of the person you wish to direct the spell for/at, while tokens can be any items, symbols, or sigils with magickal significance. Consider making your own this week - either for a one-use spell, or as a long-term addition to your Magickal Tool Kit.

Oh, what an interesting challenge! I’ll have to think about an entry for this one - I have some ideas, though!

I think I’ll do the little forgiveness ritual listed

Well mine just jumped out at me.:cat2:

I have a kitty, Turbo Kitty, who’s doing poorly and I’m worried about so this is what I need to do.

Edit to add, boy I have a strong desire to make a Bast figurine along the lines of my Artemis, Selene and Hekate but I’m not sure how to incorporate kitty attributes (ears and tail) and that worries me enough that I might use the excuse of not having enough time to keep me from even trying.

I’ll be doing this spell:

with my Bastet statue as my token.

I will also be blessing a special pendant of mine to use as a protective talisman/self-taglock thingy.

Awww no. Sending love to you and turbo. I have some interest in Bast as well. I feel like she calls to you often . Go for it sister

I am happy to explore tag locks. This is new to me
I like that I can tie someone else to my spell. I’m thinking about using @BryWisteria spell. Past, present future.
Removing obstacles!

Wow i have just the poppet if i can find it among my bits and pieces i handmade for my partner which was intended for him to “get lucky” as he requested in the lottery but generally financially. Will be adding pics soon as i find it

Challenge entry:

I use taglocks frequently in spell work. Here is an example of a binding spell I recently did.

There was a woman who physically and mentally abusive to an elderly woman I know. Mundane routes weren’t being much help so she asked me to help her.

I created a poppet for the spell thinking of all the bad things this woman has done while seeing it together
While doing the binding ritual I stuffed the poppet with locks of her hair, fingernail clippings, and a cloth she had used to wipe off makeup. I than wrapped the poppet from head to toe with black ribbon as tightly as I could while chanting “you will no longer be able to harm Margo physically or emotionally, you will leave her alone and stay out of her space”.

Of course there was a lot more to the ritual, the candles, the oils, the summoning. I just wanted to focus on the taglock portion mostly.

So since the day I did that spell this woman has left the elderly woman alone, steers clear of her and no longer speaks to her.

@Mystique That is great news! That angers me so when people abuse others, especially the vulnerable.

So I guess this means the tag lock can be done without the other persons permission. Interesting. I will have to look into this more but to help someone who keeps putting roadblocks in their way. (not to harm someone).

@Artemisia - I hope Turbo starts to feel better soon! And about the figurine- search it up on YouTube how to make it. If you saw a few different people, or even just one, create ears and a tail on a figurine you will be able to do it. I have seen pics of items you have created. You can do it!

Edited for a spelling mistake.

Yes tag locks can be used without the other’s permission, but some people won’t do that sort of thing. It depends on you ideas and the way you practice.

@Mystique In my local Coven (long since disbanded and the HP passed in 2019) Individual Workings for (or against) another person was strongly discouraged. So much so that I hadin’t even heard of the term Taglock. I am still uneasy doing this kind of Work. Too many variables, I may not know the whole story, unintended consequences, etc. Of course we as group would send out healing energy…

I hadn’t heard of Spell Tokens either. I have always heard of them as Spell Components or Correspondences.

I searched and found Taglocks elsewhere but when I searched Spell Tokens all I got was was a cryptocurrency called SpellToken!

You can do it! Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect - anything you make will be full of your loving energy!

Love or hate Llewellyn but the Spell-A-Day-Almanac was great inspiration for what my Challenge entry will be!

Yes, some covens (and solitary witches) do not practice this way, while others do. Some follow the law of 3, some don’t. That’s what fabulous about the craft. You practice how you feel comfortable practicing. If you don’t agree with the way another coven or witch practices, you don’t have to do it. :woman_shrugging:t2: My original coven did practices that to me were absolutely appalling. That is why I left as soon as I found out I was pregnant with my oldest.

One of the many reasons I love this group! Can learn so many different things from all the different ways we all practice :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

Nice job great work sister. We stand united. Proud of you

Thank you sister! :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart::people_hugging::people_hugging::people_hugging:

Hope Turbo kitty will be ok. Sending love :green_heart:

Love to you and little turbo kitty :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:
